Message reviewed. The reason for setting the low octane maps for more enrichment and less timing is because when problems are detected, it uses a different (safer) set of parameters. The normal mode (high octane maps) has finite ability to correct problems. Once that limit is reached, the ECU then reverts to a safer set of parameters to continue attempts to save your metal.
